Frequently Asked Questions

The LFC uses a non-toxic blend of enzymes, together with water & oxygen, to safely and quickly digest your food waste into drain-safe grey water.

Because the digestion process is aerobic, no harmful methane or C02 is released. The LFC also eliminates the need for gas guzzling trucks & green-bin disposal services.

Anything we can eat, the LFC can eat, and much more! This includes meat, small bones from chicken & fish, vegetables, bread, eggs & egg shells, lobster shells, pasta, pineapple heads, corn cobs, cheese, coffee grounds, and a variety of other common waste foods

Anything which may compromise the enzymes, or physically damage the machine. These items include large bones, very hot or frozen foods, stones of fruit, thick paper products, deep fryer grease, or chemical detergents. Obviously the LFC will not digest glass, metal, or plastic, which makes it ideal for ships, and facilities with environmentally impactful waste streams.

The LFC dramatically reduces Green-Bin disposal costs, workplace labour related injuries, messy pest and rodent infestations, as well as reduces the space needed to accommodate traditional green waste storage. Typical ROI on these points alone is proven to be around 2 years.

The LFC does not produce solids, fats, manure, or any such byproduct. Through a process known as “endogenous respiration”, the food waste simply digests itself down to safe, nutrient-rich grey water.

Either your common kitchen drain, or sewage system will accept the LFC effluent. As the enzymes remain active even after discharge, the effluent is reported to actually clean out your downstream drain lines, which may have contained grease, sludge, or other biological grime.

Typically, a grease trap is not necessary, but please check your local municipal standards when it comes to grease trap implementation.

The anticipated daily weight of your waste food by Kilogram will determine the size which is right for you. Example would be an LFC200, which will digest upward of 200 Kilograms of assorted waste food each and every day, with the enzymes only being topped up annually.

All you need is an appropriate power source, hot & cold running water, a properly sized drain, and we also highly recommend the Free LFC Cloud Connection for reporting the consumption, and general machine monitoring.

When food is simply ground up and sent down the drain, it continues to rot and use up oxygen. This is very harmful to waterborne life, as well as leaving fats and oils undigested. The LFC creates a watery fluid which is safe, has very little suspended solids, and does not suffocate the life downstream.

No, since the LFC does not produce methane or greenhouse gas, there is no combustible energy per se.

Yes, many tests are yielding terrific nutrient value from the water produced. For example, if a condominium uses fresh water for irrigation of trees, flower beds, and gardens already, why not eliminate the need for harmful chemical fertilizers, and just run the water through the LFC first, thereby solving both problems at once.
